The four lap GreenLine 250 cc Race got ready to start with Michael Dunlop on the grid . This had to take a strength that most of us don't have . Chris Elkin, Michael Dunlop and John Mcguinness were the early leaders, by the time they came around the Quarry Hill at the end of the 2nd lap a blanket would have covered the first three riders . When they appeared at the Mill Road roundabout, both Elkin and Dunlop were trying to out-brake each other as they entered the roundabout in the reverse direction . John McGuinness was close behind but a slight gap had opened between him and the two leading riders . By the time they came up onto the roundabout at Ballysally, Elkin, Dunlop and McGuinness were tight together . McGuinness grabbing the lead as they exited the roundabout . At the Metropole Chris Elkin was back in the lead, with Michael Dunlop close behind . John McGuinness, Paul Robinson, Denver Robb, Andrew Neill, Davy Morgan and Mark Lunney behind them . As they came up around Quarry Hill just before the finish line, Elkin and Dunlop were almost side by side .
When they arrived at the Mill road roundabout, Elkin was still in the lead with Dunlop almost on his back tyre . On the way to the Ballysally roundabout, Elkin stretched his lead but Dunlop closed the gap as the came up onto the roundabout from the university corner and he attempted to go on the outside of Elkin as they made their way around the roundabout . Elkin managed to block him at the last moment . As they came down the long hill into the Metropole corner a lot of slipstreaming and weaving was taking place, however Elkin made a slip and ran wide . Dunlop didn't need an invitation to take advantage of this and snatched the lead . McGuinness was still in 3rd place but nobody could count him out as he wa an expert at grabbing the lead at the last moment . When they came up the Quarry Hill, Dunlop was still ahead of Elkin . Dunlop was first across the line, Elkin was second and McGuinness was 3rd .
