The Autozone 125 and McKendry Fabrications 400 Race were run concurrently, with the 125 cc race starting off first . Mark Lunney and James Ford were almost rubbing elbows as they rounded Primrose corner . When they arrived at the Ballysally roundabout Mark Curtin was in the lead, he was 0.5 seconds ahead of Michael Wilcox, with David Lemon, Mark Lunney, James Ford, Graham Wilson, and Nigel Moore behind them . On the way down to the Metropole there were six riders line astern and they all fanned out as they approached the corner, Wilcox was 0.2 seconds ahead of Curtin, Lemon was a further 0.2 seconds adrift and Palmer was 0.3 seconds further back .Wilcox had broke away from the rest of the field as he crossed the finish line at the end of the first lap . Lemon, Palmer and Lunney were the next riders through . Stephan Fokkema Savelkouls was one of two of the foreign riders who were in the top ten .
Wilcox was still in the lead when they appeared at Ballysally for the 2nd time, but he was coming under pressure from Palmer, Lemon, Ford and Lunney . Palmer took the lead on the long fast run to the Metropole, with Wilcox, Lemon and Curtin tight on his tail . Lemon then pulled in at the church corner . At the finish line at the end of the 3rd lap, Palmer was leading Wilcox, Ford, Lunney, Wilson and Curtin .
Palmer and Wilcox were both out onto the hard shoulder as they approached the Ballysally roundabout .Ford Curtin, Wilson and Lunney followed them through . When they came down into the braking area at the Metropole, Palmer was just ahead . Wilcox attempted to nip past but was expertly blocked by Palmer . When they rounded the Quarry Hill corner and turned down towards the flag, Wilcox was now in the lead and took 1st place . Palmer was 2nd and Ford was 3rd .
The McKendry Fabrications 400 Race was initially led by Les Shand . When they arrived at York Corner, two riders touched and came off . Thankfully, no one was hurt . When they reached the Ballysally roundabout, the race was now being led by Ollie Linsdell, with Leo Aldersley in second place . These positions remained as they arrived at the Metropole, Joe Phillips and Les Shand in the next two places . The top four places remained unchanged at the end of the lap, 0.515 seconds between 1st and 2nd, 1.71 seconds between 2nd and 3rd . Lee Hill was in 5th place .
Things had changed a bit when they reached the Ballysally roundabout on the second lap, they were now catching up with the slower 125s . Linsdell was still in the lead, Aldersley 2nd and Joe Phillips . By the end of the lap Linsdell was still leading Shand, Aldersley, Lee Hill and Joe Phillips . Linsdell had stretched his lead to approximately 5.5 seconds . Joe Phillips went through the speed trap at 140 mph .
By the end of the 3rd lap Linsdell was a massive 16.045 seconds in the lead, Paul Dobbs now in second place . He was followed by Les Shand and Lee Hill . The race was won by Ollie Linsdell, he had almost 24.5 seconds of a lead over Paul Dobbs who was 2nd and Les Shand was in 3rd place. Ollie Linsdell also broke the existing lap record with a speed of 105.194 mph on the 3rd lap . |
