The six lap Black Horse Finance NW200 race got under way and the sun was starting to show it's face . Martin had the advantage over Plater and McGuinness as he left the line and headed towards Primrose . He was still in the lead at the Mill Road roundabout and had a 25 metre lead by the time they reached Cromore . Martin had a 0.626 second lead over Plater at Ballysally, with McGuinness, Rutter, Anstey, Donald, Lougher, Johnson and Farquhar close on their tails . Anstey was up into 3rd place when they rounded the Metropole corner, Rutter was 0.4 seconds down . Martin was still 0.64 seconds ahead of McGuinness when they crossed the finish line at the start of the 2nd lap . Martin had recorded 190 mph through the speed trap .
Martin pulled away on the fast run to the university, he was 1.389 seconds ahead of Anstey when he circled the Ballysally roundabout . Anstey was a further 0.5 seconds down, with McGuinness, Rutter, Donald, Plater and Hutchinson behind him . Anstey had pulled some of the gap back by the time they entered the Metropole corner, Martin's advantage was now only 0.4 seconds . Plater managed to pass McGuinness on the corner and stuck his boot out as he pulled ahead . When they crossed the line, Martin, Anstey, Plater, McGuinness and Rutter were first across in that order .
Once again, Martin pulled away from Anstey and Plater and he had extended the lead to 1.2 seconds by the time they reached the Ballysally roundabout . Anstey was 0.354 seconds ahead of Donald, who was 0.218 seconds ahead of Plater . The gap was up to 2.46 seconds by the time they crossed the finish line at the end of the 3rd lap . The order was Martin, Anstey, Plater, Donald, Rutter, Johnson, and Hutchinson .
Bad luck hit on the run to the university, Martin retired and Anstey was the new leader at the Ballysally roundabout . He was 0.433 seconds ahead of Plater . At the Metropole, Plater led Anstey by less than 0.5 seconds, Rutter, Donald, Johnson and McGuinness were close behind . Positions remained the same at the end of the 4th lap .
On the run to the university Cameron Donald seemed to be on the move as he successfully slipstreamed . At the roundabout, Plater was leading Anstey, Rutter, Donald and McGuinness . As they exited the chicane at the Magherabuoy they were all bunched together, Plater entering the Metropole corner 0.5 seconds ahead of Donald, with Rutter, Anstey and McGuinness in the next positions . Positions changed continually along the coast road and it was Plater, Donald and rutter who crossed the finish line for the 2nd last time .
McGuinness seemed to be applying pressure on Anstey at the York Corner . As they approached the Cromore corner six of them were abreast . Donald took the lead at the corner and then Rutter moved into 2nd place as they neared the university . Donald was 0.321 seconds ahead of Rutter as they rounded Ballysally, with Plater, Anstey, McGuinness and Johnson the next through . The times remained fairly constant at the Metropole but it was all change along the coast road . Plater took the lead and held this position until he crossed the finish line . Donald, Rutter, Anstey and McGuinness took the next four places .
