The Ballymoney Borough Council 600 cc Race

The Ballymoney Borough Council 600 cc Race was the last race of the day, the sun had disappeared again but it was still ideal for racing . However before the first lap was completed by all the riders the red flag went out . On the restart, Seeley and Amor were 1st away with Amor on the inside . Amor was in the lead as they came around Primrose, with Plater joining them . On the run to the university, Hutchinson catapulted into 2nd place and then up into the lead . Hutchinson was 0.218 seconds ahead of team-mate Plater when they came up onto the Ballysally roundabout . Seeley, Amor, Lougher, Brogan, McGuinness, Anstey and Johnson slotting into the next places . They were three abreast when they approached the Metropole, Hutchinson leading by 0.5 seconds . Plater and Seeley were together . Adrian McFarland was the leader of the 2nd group to start . As they crossed the line at the end of the 1st lap, Hutchinson was leading Plater and Seeley . Seeley tried his usual and passed Plater but before the end of the pits chicane he was back in 4th place as both Plater and Lougher passed him .

Two riders were neck to neck coming up onto the ballysally roundabout, Hutchinson having the inside line . As they rounded the roundabout, Hutchinson was leading Plater, Lougher and Seeley . Adrian McFarland was still leading the 2nd group and was now in 14th place on corrected time . The top four places remained unchanged at the end of the 2nd lap, McGuinness recording 173 mph through the speed trap .

Hutchinson was still ahead of Plater on the run to the university but by the time they circled the Ballysally roundabout Plater was at the front with a 0.23 second advantage . Seeley had also moved up ahead of Lougher, who was now in 4th place . The positions were, Plater, Hutchinson, Seeley, Lougher, Brogan, Amor, McGuinness, Johnson, Frost, Donald and Shand . Seeley managed to be on the inside as they came down into the Metropole and he grabbed the lead on the brakes, Hutchinson 2nd and Plater 3rd . The top three places remained the same as they crossed the line at the end of the lap . Seeley had upped the lap record to 118.68 mph during this lap .

Plater managed to move into 2nd place as they came into the sharp York left hander, he was over 0.5 seconds in the lead when they reached Ballysally . Hutchinson was second, Seeley third and Brogan 4th .Seeley was being put under pressure by Brogan, only 0.2 seconds separated them . Adrian McFarland was still in 14th place on corrected time . At the Metropole the top three were the same but Lougher had now moved up between Seeley and Brogan, Amor was next and then there was a sizeable gap before the next riders appeared . Seeley shifted into 2nd place along the coast road and was only 0.18 seconds behind Plater as the crossed the line to begin the final lap . Hutchinson was in 3rd place just 0.111 seconds behind Seeley . Amor had increased the lap record on this lap to 118.77 mph .

When they appeared up the slip road onto the ballysally roundabout it was hard to tell who was leading, Seeley was like the filling in a sandwich between the two red bikes . It was Plater who led as they progressed into the roundabout . Seeley, Hutchinson, Lougher and Brogan were the next through . As they came down into the Magherabuoy chicane, Hutchinson retired, and it was left to Plater to carry on the battle with Seeley . Plater had the inside line coming into the Metropole and he led Seeley, Lougher, Brogan and Amor through the corner . It finished with Plater taking the win over Seeley by 0.13 seconds, Lougher, Brogan and Amor taking the next three places .
